A Quiet Christmas

As with most of 2016, Christmas snuck up on us all rather quickly and was in our past before we finished the honey ham, (I’m now sick of ham by the way). My plans to visit with my Mom changed at the last minute as she decided to go up to my sister’s house and babysit her kids when they left town for a few days. As a result, I was invited to go up to my best friend’s house and spend the holiday with him and his family.

What is to remember from the Christmas of 2016? Well, it would have to be the trip to the emergency room for my buddy’s oldest daughter. There we all were… gathered around a beautifully set dinner table… getting ready to say grace and dig into a bountiful cornucopia of deliciously prepared holiday dished smothered in gravy, when my buddy’s daughter’s appendix burst. (At least that’s what we all thought).

So my best friend takes off to Children’s Hospital with his wife and oldest daughter in tow. His two remaining children were quickly sent to a neighbor’s house that had similar aged kids, and I was basically put in charge of packing up the food and cleaning up the kitchen. Within 30 minutes of them leaving for the hospital, food was served, kitchen cleaned and I was back at home alone ready for bed. There you have it… Merry Christmas.

Thanksgiving At Mom’s

Thanksgiving was short and uneventful this year… which is good if you have one of those families that always have eventful holidays. Mom kicked ass once again with the goodies on the table and all the other goodies around the house. Her ability to cook is only surpassed by her ability to sew stuff and decorate a house.

Napping is what I do at my Mom’s house. You eat killer food, then sleep on the most comfortable and well decorated couch west of the Mississippi… I usually sleep after I have to fix some sort of technical mystery my Mom gets into with her computer and smart phone. I honestly have no idea of how she breaks her computer stuff so much.

Las Rocas, Mexico

I went to the Las Rocas resort in Baja Mexico with my girlfriend, my best friend and his wife, and a couple other cool neighbors from down the street. As you can see in the photo, the view  from our room was awesome. Other than the uncountable number of endless stairs, the place was pretty cool.

The resort itself is located between Rosarita and La Fonda so food and shopping is always close by. Each day started with a generous service of eggs and tortillas, with beans and rice throughout the afternoon. for dinner, we all had lobster the first two nights and steak on the third. It was flipping nuts.
